���ϳԹ��� School of Law welcomes all alumni back to campus for Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 21–24. The Law School will be hosting a number of in-person and livestream events to bring together former classmates and faculty and celebrate our distinguished alumni.

���ϳԹ��� School of Law Professors Jonathan Adler and Sharona Hoffman are among the top-10 most cited professors in their respective fields.

���ϳԹ��� School of Law Professor Sharona Hoffman was the ninth most cited professor in the field of Health Law from 2016-2020 (tied with three other scholars), according to a study released this month.

This year, we celebrate 11 new members to the Society of Benchers, the law school’s Hall of Fame. Established in 1962, the Society of Benchers inducts new members on the basis of extraordinary achievement and dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession, as voted on by their peers.

In 1990, just as ���ϳԹ��� School of Law was establishing its Frederick K. Cox International Law Center, Professor Lewis Katz approached then-Dean Peter Gerhart with a plan: a graduate legal studies program that would bring approximately 15 international students to Cleveland.

When Jodi Littman Tomaszewski (CWR ’95, LAW ’99) died unexpectedly in June, her friends and colleagues were shocked— and spurred to action in her memory.

Third-year ���ϳԹ��� School of Law student Andy Rumschlag is this year’s winner of the Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition, a national legal writing competition sponsored by the Mercer University School of Law and the American Bar Association Commission on Disability Rights.

Trade Law at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law is more than a course taught by one of the nation’s leading experts. It’s more than the preeminent Trade Law Fall Update, the practitioner-focused conference held annually at the Law School. And it’s more than the opportunity for funded externships at the U.S.

The School of Law launched its new Master and Certificates in Compliance and Risk Management Programs in the fall of 2021. These programs are designed to meet the increasing demand by businesses and government agencies for experts in state, federal, and international laws and regulations.

Layla Maurer, a third-year law student at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law, has been an enthusiastic gamer since playing her first arcade games and Atari and Nintendo consoles. While the demands of law school occupy most of her days, she still finds time to unwind by gaming with her family.

In recognition of her edited book, Family Murder: Pathologies of Love and Hate (2019), Adjunct Professor Susan Hatters Friedman, MD, earned the American Psychiatric Association/American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law’s 2020 Manfred S. Guttmacher Award.

In October, ���ϳԹ��� School of Law First Amendment Clinic students Makela Hayford, Ginger Pinkerton and Nathan Venesky, along with First Amendment Fellow Sara Coulter, completed a 3½-day bench trial in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Youngstown before the Honorable Judge Benita Y.

The School of Law at ���ϳԹ��� is among the top law schools that produce the most “Super Lawyers” and “Rising Stars,” according to an article in this month’s National Jurist magazine.
