At a special event that included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the School of Law at ���ϳԹ��� dedicated the David J. Elk (‘64) – Elk+Elk Active Learning Classroom on May 11, 2022.

In May, ���ϳԹ��� School of Law held its annual Faculty Achievement Awards ceremony to recognize outstanding work by faculty members. Three major awards were presented: Faculty Distinguished Research Prize, Faculty Distinguished Service Prize and a Chaired Professorship.

In April, third-year Health Law Clinic students Ester Khaykin and Naomi Tellez gave a presentation on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for Children to the pediatric medical providers of the Neighborhood Family Practice (NFP) Community Health Centers.

It’s not often that a lawyer literally gets to save a life. But three ���ϳԹ��� School of Law students did just that this semester in the school’s Immigration Clinic.

Above the walkway to the ���ϳԹ��� School of Law, visitors are greeted by a colorful banner proclaiming that ���ϳԹ��� is “A National Leader in Experiential Education.”  

The Vis International Arbitration Moot Court Team at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law has just completed a history making season, after competing at the 29th Vis International Arbitration Moot Court competition held virtually this past week.

In April, the Health Law Clinic at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law hosted its first Pop-up Wills Clinic, helping more than 30 community members obtain wills, power of attorney and other important legal documents.

After making it to the Final Four at the National Championship last month, the Jessup International Law Moot Court team at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law—Applicants 3L Michael Eckhart and 2L Sydney Warinner; and Respondents 1L Will Baker and 1L Elise Manchester—went 7-1 in the White and Case World Championship preliminary and advanced rounds.

In April, the Supreme Court of Ohio heard oral argument in a case that students in the ���ϳԹ��� School of Law Appellate Litigation Clinic have been working on for over two years.

One sure sign of spring is the ���ϳԹ��� School of Law Dean Dunmore Moot Court Competition, an intramural appellate-advocacy tournament in which students in our Appellate Practice class compete in an NCAA bracket-style competition judged by faculty members, judges and experienced practitioners.

The NCAA tournament wasn’t the only “March madness” last week.

With commencement just around the corner on Saturday, May 14, ���ϳԹ��� School of Law is featuring a few of our outstanding graduating students.  Why did you choose ���ϳԹ��� School of Law? In short—its international law programs and reputation. 

Last week, Makela Hayford (CWR ’18), a third-year student at ���ϳԹ��� School of Law, sat in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room on Capitol Hill as U.S. senators questioned Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson—the first Black woman to be nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court.
