Kelvin Smith Library welcomes individuals who have personal research needs and offers the collections for browsing, reading and scanning. Many of these resources are available to both ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø alumni and community patrons.
KSL welcomes alumni and community members during designated hours. See the current KSL access hours or call the Service Center at 216.368.3506.
Library hours may be reduced during holidays and academic breaks. In accordance with KSL’s ID Policy, all alumni and community visitors must present a valid government-issued photo ID to enter the building.
Note: Per university policy, individuals 16 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the library. Unaccompanied minors seeking assistance with government information or government publications should contact a Research Services Librarian or the Service Center before visiting the library.
Four designated computers for alumni and community access at KSL. Community visitors may use these computers for up to 2 hours per day. To login, please sign in at the Service Center.
Login access ends 60 minutes before the close of community visitor hours, and computers shut down 30 minutes before closing.

Computers are for educational and research purposes only. Library resources may not be used for commercial activities, and licensed electronic content is for personal educational use only.

All patrons are required to comply with copyright laws and acceptable use policy.
WEPA is a cloud-based printing network that allows users to upload documents from any internet-connected device and print at any WEPA kiosk.

Alumni and community members may create a WEPA guest account for full network access. An account is not required to print or pay, but printing options are more limited without one.
Without an account, printing is available directly from a USB drive or cloud service at the kiosk. Print jobs can also be submitted in advance via the print driver or email-to-print and released with a code.
Payment may be made by credit card, PayPal, or a $5 WEPA print card (cash purchase only) available near KSL’s entrance.

Alumni-Specific Privileges
All ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Alumni are eligible for access to over 30 alumni-licensed databases, community computer use, select Freedman Center resources, printing services, and borrowing privileges that extend beyond KSL.
A valid ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Network ID and password are required to apply for alumni library services.

After your application is processed, a welcome email will provide access instructions. Ohio residents will also receive a physical library card by mail.
Alumni have borrowing privileges from KSL, The Lillian and Milford Harris Library, OhioLINK, and SearchOhio libraries.

Licensing restrictions do not allow alumni access to all of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø online resources that are available to current students.
KSL provides access to selected research databases covering a wide variety of subjects.

KSL's Freedman Center offers limited resources for alumni use. Alumni are welcome to use the Freedman Center lab with scanning equipment and research stations.

Community-Specific Privileges
KSL welcomes community members and offers a variety of resources to individuals who are not affiliated with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. These include computer access, limited borrowing, printing, and scanning services.
Patrons from eligible and member institutions may borrow materials directly from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. For more information, visit the OhioLINK and SearchOhio page.
Community patrons may also use KSL materials inside of the library, although some in-house resources carry restrictions.
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Office of Government Relations offers special privileges and access to select campus amenities through the Community Card. For details, visit the Office of Government Relations ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Community Card page.
Community members can save digital scans using KSL’s KIC scanners located on the first floor. These scanners allow users to email PDFs of scanned documents or download them directly to a USB drive.
