The PhD in Social Welfare program at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences is designed to prepare scholars for careers in research, teaching and leadership. This rigorous program emphasizes a data-informed approach, equipping students with advanced skills in research methods, statistics and theory. The curriculum integrates community-based research opportunities, allowing students to tackle real-world social welfare issues in collaboration with faculty and specialized research centers.
Fall 2025, we have moved to a new model of the doctoral program. We will spend this next year revising the mission, vision, program outcomes and courses (2025-2026). We will be evaluating our mentorship model and faculty development training needs. We expect some major changes in the program that will be implemented when we admit students for Fall 2027.
Applications will open in Fall 2026 for admission Fall 2027. If you are interested in learning about the program, please read our website and contact us for additional information or clarification. Doctoral Webinars will start again in Spring 2026. We will not admit a class for Fall 2026.
