The winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. Reflection Competition will share their works and be recognized for their achievement at a reception Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Kelvin Smith Library.
The competition was open to various forms of expression, including poetry, short story, art and photography. Faculty, staff and students from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Cuyahoga Community College submitted their works, showing the diversity of thought and creativity within the community.
The first-prize winners will receive $300 and a copy of Dr. King’s last book, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?
Second prize winners receive a $50 gift certificate. Honorable mention recipients will have their work displayed and are invited to read and discuss their work.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Reflection Competition and celebration are sponsored by Cleveland Humanities Collaborative, Voices from the Village, Kelvin Smith Library, and the Office of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity, and supported by the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
