Public Policy Pathway
This fall, the Public Policy Pathway, anchored by Public Policy in Child Development (CHST 301), continued to draw strong student interest. The Mann Child Policy Externship (CHST 398) placed our extern at the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies Center for Child Health and Policy.
Mann Extern (CHST398) Spring 2024
During the Spring of 2025, Hannah Zacharia spent her spring semester as a Mann Child Policy Extern at the . During her externship, Hannah supported projects such as Community Voices on Vaccines, KIDS Rainbow, and TEENLINK through survey design, literature reviews, and focus group coordination. She gained hands-on experience addressing vaccine hesitancy among teens and engaging with community-based health initiatives. This work deepened her understanding of health policy and communication, which she plans to carry into her future as a physician focused on public health and equity.

Students pursuing the Childhood Studies Minor can complete the minor through the Public Policy Pathway or by selecting from a variety of approved courses across disciplines. By the end of the academic year, enrollment in the CHST minor reached 62 students—a 30% increase from the previous year, reflecting steady growth and greater engagement across schools and programs. Among the 81 minors offered at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Childhood Studies now ranks 12th in terms of student enrollment.
