The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women will host its third annual Women of Color Series with the theme “Intersectionality: A Tool for Gender and Economic Justice.” The first session of the series is titled “Intersectionality 201: A Theoretical Frame” and will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women at the Tinkham Veale University Center (Suite 248).

Series details

The series, facilitated by Shemariah J. Arki, is open to all members of the ���ϳԹ��� community who are interested in advocating for equity for all women. The series centers on an intersectional feminist practice as a primary tool to identify, learn and grow individual perspectives when building an inclusive gender equity movement. The Women of Color Series is dedicated to inclusion and advocacy for marginalized women who also identify as people of color based on their race and/or ethnicity. These identities include, but are not limited to, Asian, African-American, Black, Hispanic, Indian, Indigenous, Latina, Middle Eastern, Native American, North African or Pan African.

Session details

In the first session, “Intersectionality 201: A Theoretical Frame,” participants will build community, develop a common definition of intersectionality and position it as a tool for advocacy.
