When did the sci-fi marathon begin on campus? The answer is…

This weekend marks yet another Science Fiction Marathon, hosted by the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Film Society. The tradition actually began 37 years ago—in 1976, according to the —although the Film Society notes it is the 38th event. The nearly 30-hour-long nonstop film fest traditionally takes place the Friday and Saturday of the first week of class in the spring semester. This year, the first film, John Carter, begins Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., and the final film, Watchmen, will begin at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 19. For more information on the event, visit .
