The School of Law will host a lecture on “Social Media in the Workplace” Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4:30 to 5:30, in the school’s moot courtroom (A59). The event will also be webcast live.
Margaret J. Grover (LAW ’83), attorney at law, will give the talk, which is the Dean’s Distinguished Alumni Lecture. Her discussion will cover:
- Limitations on employer access to social media
- Risks of using social media in hiring decisions
- National Labor Relations Board decisions that define what constitutes protected “concerted activity” through social media
- Harassment and bullying through social media
- Expectation of privacy in employer-owned devices
- Social media policies
