Watch ϳԹ startups pitch investors for $50K in prizes

On March 15, —each with at least one current ϳԹ (ϳԹ) student or recent alum—will pitch professional investors for $50,000 in prizes in the first-ever “demo day” of the .  to this on-campus event, March 15 at the Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears think[box]. The competition starts at 7 p.m. MPSC about each finalist:
  • : rapid blood-testing technology providing eight measurements within five minutes from a single drop
  • : employee-recruiting pairing artificial intelligence and professional screeners
  • : hedgehog-inspired tech for safer football helmets
  • : grocery boxes to neighborhoods lacking fresh, diverse food sources
  • ImaginAg: algorithms to analyze aerial images of agriculture and timber lands
  • Inspirit: wearable devices to monitor dehydration among the elderly and others
Jumpstart logoThe awards are $25,000 for first place, $15,000 for second and $10,000 for third. Prizes are provided by , a nationally recognized Cleveland nonprofit that supports and invests in Ohio-based tech startups. Competition judges are Troy Vosseller, a founder of the accelerator ; Lee Zapis of ; and , a legendary venture capitalist—managing partner of Pavey Investments in Cleveland and Silicon Valley, California, and partner emeritus at Cleveland-based Morgenthaler Ventures—and a ϳԹ trustee. The competition was started to honor the memory of legendary startup investor David Morgenthaler.
