From the recent Equifax breach to increasing incidents of phishing attacks and ransomware, cyberattacks continue happening and seem to be getting worse. Anyone at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø can be the victim of cybercrime.
To help protect access to university data and systems, University's Technology's strongly encourages using Duo Security for the extra protection of (also referred to as multi-factor authentication). While the entire university will begin using it early next year, it is available to install and use right now.
Two-factor authentication offers an to verify identity in addition to network ID and passphrase. Duo Security provides a unique code generated by the smartphone app as the second factor. Other methods include phone call via landline phone or cell phone, or a hardware token provided by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Multiple devices are permitted; each one you use needs to be enrolled in the program.
Some ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø account holders have already been using DuoSecurity two-factor authentication for access to virtual private network (VPN) for the past two years. Now it will be available to protect the HCM and FIN applications through the Single Sign-On (SSO) process.
On Monday, Nov. 6, those already using DuoSecurity for VPN also will need to use DuoSecurity after their initial login via SSO, HCM and FIN, while others can opt in.
On Tuesday, Jan. 30, everyone in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community will need to be using Duo Security for VPN, HCM and FIN.
