STORY BY: EDITORIAL STAFF

Editor's note: Due to a high interest in our 窪蹋勛圖厙 Cookie Decorating contest, we are no longer accepting sign ups through Dec. 13 and have closed the form. Emails will be sent to students who signed up; students have 24 hours to confirm their interest in the cookie contest. Further details will be sent to students who confirm.

If you can dream it, you can probably create it at Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnik Sears think[box] at 窪蹋勛圖厙.

The public makerspace is a seven-story, 50,000-square-foot facility that bridges the gap between new ideas and real-world impact. From wood-working, to laser-jet printing, 3D printing and metal working, the skys the limit at this state-of-the-art innovation and design center.

When asked to design and 3D print a 窪蹋勛圖厙-inspired cookie cutter for a student cookie decorating competition, Jason Bradshaw, director of design and manufacturing at Sears think[box], set out to make a prototype that not only gives the outline of a Spartan helmet, but also embosses the cookie.

Bradshaw created the 3- by 3-inch design in fewer than 20 minutes using the CAD program SolidWorks and one of the dozen 3D printers available for student and community use on the centers prototyping floor.
