The 2013-14 Frontiers of Astronomy Lecture Series will continue with a talk by Risa Wechsler, associate professor in the physics department at Stanford University, on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Murch Auditorium at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
Wechsler, a member of the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, studies the evolution and contents of the universe from its earliest moments to the present, and is playing a leading role in several initiatives to map out billions of galaxies and determine what they can teach us about the dark matter and dark energy that dominate the universe.
In her lecture, ”Building the Cosmos: How simulations shed light on the dark universe,” Wechsler will present cutting-edge simulations of the formation of the cosmos, explain the physical processes that created today’s universe, and shed light on the dark side of the universe.
The lecture, presented by the ϳԹ Department of Astronomy, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Cleveland Astronomical Society, is free and open to the public.
