Spartans in Service: Discover three volunteer programs at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø

On April 13, 130 students from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø served at 16 different local nonprofit partner organizations in recognition of the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning (CCEL)’s Saturday of Service. During this event, students participated in various activities including: 

  • Helping community members access clothing and food donations, 
  • Preparing community gardens for spring, 
  • Sorting and packing books by reading level for donation to area youth, 
  • Participating in neighborhood beautification with the , and
  • Helping clean out and organize storage and supply areas for a partner nonprofit serving families experiencing homelessness.

CCEL Serves 

Whether you’re looking to serve once or occasionally, CCEL Serves is a great way to get involved. Opt to serve one time or occasionally through Flex Serves, the program format that allows you to sign up for various projects that fit your academic schedule each academic semester. Activities range from sorting food for ºÚÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s Physical Resource Center, serving families in need at the Cleveland Food Bank, or participating in other volunteer activities.

Civic Engagement Scholars

Undergraduate and graduate students from all academic years and majors are eligible to become Civic Engagement Scholars, whether studying on campus or remotely. In addition to completing at least 30 civic engagement hours, you’ll be required to complete community-focused training and a final year-end written reflection as a scholar.

Fall Community Service Fair

Plan ahead to explore volunteer opportunities across a variety of local nonprofit organizations—including , and —at CCEL’s Community Service Fair, held each fall. All members of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community are welcome to attend.
