William S. Bush, assistant professor of epidemiology and biostatistics, recently co-authored a manuscript with Tony Capra, assistant professor of biological sciences at Vanderbilt University, and collaborators in the eMERGE network on a publication in Science.
Their manuscript described the influence of Neanderthal ancestry on modern human traits. The researchers found how certain factors inherited from Neanderthals could lead to common diseases.
