ideastream: Deepak Sarma, professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences, weighed in on the different traditions and ways of practicing spirituality as Northeast Ohioans prepare for the eclipse. “It's really fascinating to me to see the way that people pick and choose from other religious traditions and kind of create their own,” Sarma said. “It gives freedom and certainly freedom from the doctrines and control of religious institutions.”
