Representatives from the Posse Foundation New Orleans will give an on-campus presentation on the program, the Posse Plus Retreat and opportunities for faculty members to serve as mentors in the program. This presentation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Wolstein Hall.

About the Posse Foundation

The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by the traditional college selection processes. Posse extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—”posses”—of 10 students. Partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships. There is an opening for a faculty mentor for Posse 2019 and 2020. Those interested in the position can attend the presentation Oct. 10 to learn more about the program and how they can make a difference in the lives of this select group of students. The Posse mentor is responsible for helping the Posse have a successful college career. The mentor does this by meeting with the Posse members individually and as a group during the first two years on campus. It is a two-year position with three mandatory training seminars prior to the Scholars’ first semester of their first year. The position requires approximately 15 hours per week and is a paid position. Jeff Ullom, associate professor and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Theater, serves as the faculty mentor for Posse 2018.
