This time of year is often a time to reflect, express gratitude and give back. So as Thanksgiving approaches, The Daily wanted to pause to recognize the students who regularly contribute to our campus and Cleveland communities—and far beyond.
Want to help support some of these student volunteer opportunities? During this year’s #GivingTuesday, held Nov. 27, individuals can donate to 23 student organizations and university initiatives to help them continue making an impact.Volunteerism is a core component of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø student experience. For instance, this fall alone, more than 1,000 students spent 2,650 hours in service during events hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning. From gardening to washing dishes at a homeless shelter to assembling toys for children of low-income families, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students give back in many ways. But this is just a snapshot of the volunteer hours ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students dedicate. These statistics don’t account for the fundraising or volunteering efforts of students within the more than 300 campus groups, 20-plus community service groups, Greek Life organizations, and athletic teams at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. The slideshow featured here shows just a few of the ways our students get involved on campus, across our city and around the world—and today, we simply wanted to say thank you.
