One day to move into their new residence halls. Seven days jam-packed with nearly 100 events, meetings, activities and resource sessions from which to choose. Thousands of memories made by the ϳԹ Class of 2027 during the university’s Discover Week.

After , students (sans parents and families) took on the rest of Discover Week, from Monday’s barbecue and “tradition” at DiSanto Field to Friday’s ϳԹinCLE: Serve and Explore day and Spartan-Fest evening event, with academic sessions and getting-to-know-you activities throughout. Now, as members of the Class of 2027 start their first days as ϳԹ students, we’re taking a look at the statistics behind our newest undergraduates:

Who they are

  • 1,550 first-year students selected from…
  • 39,000 applications—a record-breaking number for ϳԹ
  • 13% are first-generation college students
  • 9% had a relative attend ϳԹ

Where they’re from

  • 1,067 high schools
  • 74 countries of citizenship
  • 25% from Middle Atlantic states
  • 18% from outside the U.S.
  • 13% from the West
  • 13% from Ohio
  • 11% from the Midwest
  • 8% from the South
  • 7% from New England
  • 5% from the Southwest

What they do

  • 77% volunteered in their communities
  • 65% played a sport
  • 52% were involved in the arts
  • 51% worked part-time jobs or cared for family members at home
  • 28% led their classmates as members of student government
