Individuals who seek a deeper insight into today’s most pressing ethical issues are encouraged to participate in the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program’s “Bioethics: Navigating the Challenges of Today's Ethical Frontiers in Healthcare” series.
In this series, participants will explore issues in transforming clinical practice, public health policy and patient rights, including:
- Governmental healthcare reforms and ethical access to care;
- Implications of the U.S. withdrawal from the World Health Organization;
- The influence of church-affiliated hospitals on medical decision-making;
- Gender in medicine and the push for inclusive, equitable care;
- Emerging questions in neuroethics;
- The evolving role and scope of advance directives in end-of-life decisions; and
- Ethical challenges and implications of genetic testing.
Through expert-led lectures and discussions, participants will gain an understanding of emerging dilemmas in bioethics, while navigating the shifting landscape of healthcare.
Courses will take place Tuesdays, Oct. 21 through Dec. 16, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
