Music’s Ageh Bedell receives 2025 Richard A. Bloom M.D. Award for Distinguished Teaching

In 2008, the Richard A. Bloom, M.D. Award was established at ϳԹ to honor distinguished teaching in the SAGES program (now Academic Inquiry Seminars), part of the university’s core undergraduate curriculum.
Each year, students are invited to nominate instructors who go above and beyond both in and out of the classroom. The winner is later recognized during the commencement ceremony, where they receive a $2,000 prize.
—second-year PhD Student in Music Education at the College of Arts and Sciences—was nominated by four students earning this year’s award.
"I have never experienced another seminar leader or professor at the university who cares more intensely about their students and intentionally designs the course for the benefit of students,” one student said.
