Whose Streets? is a documentary film playing during the Cleveland International Film Festival at Tower City Cinema.
When an unarmed 18-year-old African-American named Michael Brown was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri, black residents—caught in a decades-long struggle with what they considered an oppressive police force known for racist tendencies and excessive tactics—unified and protested. Many thought the media spun a misleading narrative and Ferguson police stormed through neighborhoods.
The entire terrifying episode unfolds in a powerful and gut-wrenching documentary.
There are two screenings of the film: Saturday, April 8 at 9:15 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 at 1:50 p.m.
The Sunday screening will be followed by a Film Forum panel discussion featuring SJI Director Rhonda Y. Williams.
