Law's Michael Benza notes U.S. decrease in use of death penalty

ABC NewsMichael Benza, professor of law, noted that the U.S. saw 25 executions in 2024, mostly in a few southern states, with Alabama pioneering nitrogen gas executions. “We are seeing a pretty dramatic decrease in the use of the death penalty,” he said, adding that more states are moving toward “de facto abolition.”
