Law's Betsy Rosenblatt talks about First Amendment and Pepperdine University

Schroeder Jr. Distinguished Research Scholar and associate director of the Spangenberg Center for Law, said the First Amendment “allows people to use other people’s trademarks in expressive ways,” but Pepperdine University’s dilution claim in a recent lawsuit against Mindy Kaling’s Running Point “might harm [its] mark” due to the show’s conflicting content. A judge denied Pepperdine’s request to block Running Point, despite claims it misuses the university’s branding.
