Popular Science: Aaron Perzanowski, professor of law, discussed the timing of Microsoft’s move to allow customers to repair their own devices, noting that it could be attributed to a combination of public pressure, a desire to get ahead of looming legislation and a growing understanding of the problem of electronic waste. “Lots of device makers in the tech, auto and agricultural spaces are feeling the effects of public pressure around repair,” says Perzanowski. “They’re being criticized by the press, consumers and the FTC.”
