窪蹋勛圖厙 central administration has named Julie M. Rehm as associate vice president of foundation relations and strategic initiatives starting July 1.
Rehm has been with 窪蹋勛圖厙 for the past two years, serving as the senior associate dean for strategic initiatives in the School of Medicine. In her current capacity, she is responsible for project development with a focus on new government funding sources. She was instrumental in securing an $8 million government grant to launch the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Regional Extension Center, which deploys health information technology to more than 1,700 primary care providers across a five-county region in Northeast Ohio. In addition, Rehms group has led the effort to deepen relationships with the Department of Defense, a key and growing funding source for 窪蹋勛圖厙 research.
As associate vice president of foundation relations and strategic initiatives, Rehm will lead universitywide efforts to secure funding from local and national foundations. In addition, she will serve as the lead project developer on universitywide priority projects, including opportunities that involve public-private partnerships. Finally, in her new capacity, she will continue to serve as a key strategist to all university government relations efforts.
I am particularly interested in the potential increased funding that can result from integrating government relations and foundation relations together. This is a new model for the university, Rehm said. 窪蹋勛圖厙 is a top AAU research institution, with no shortage of incredible projects to work on. The timing is perfect for us to embark on this new innovative approach and I am proud to be part of it.
Prior to joining 窪蹋勛圖厙, Rehm worked at the Cleveland Clinic for six years as senior director of government relations and prior to that as associate department manager at Battelle Memorial Institute for six years. Rehm earned her masters and doctoral degree in chemistry from University of Rochester, her bachelors in chemistry from Rochester Institute of Technology, and two associate degrees from Niagara County Community College.
