Editor's note: This event has been canceled.
The Social Justice Institute, ϳԹ LGBT Center, Cleveland Hillel and Alianza Latina invite the campus community to “How the Personal Becomes the Political: A Conversation with a Dreamer and Advocate.”
This event is part of Hispanic Heritage Month and will be held Friday, Oct. 4, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. at the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women (Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 248).
Elias Rosenfeld, a Brandeis University student, Dreamer and advocate for immigration reform, will present at the event.
Within a few days of his mother’s death in 2009, 11-year-old Rosenfeld was informed by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services that he was now considered undocumented, and would lose many of the rights he had enjoyed since coming to the United States from Venezuela as a child.
Rosenfeld will discuss how his multiple identities—as a Dreamer and a member of the Jewish and LGBT communities—intersect and inform his activist work.
This event is free and open to the community. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided. RSVP to socialjustice@case.edu.
