With the fall semester now in motion, members of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s undergraduate Class of 2029 are settling into their new college lives. Before reaching this milestone, they spent a week preparing—unpacking in residence halls, joining the community at welcome events and convocation, and learning the ropes with help from orientation leaders.

During Discover Week, our newest students explored campus and began building connections with one another. Now, it’s time for us to get to know them. Hear from first-year students about what drew them to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, then dive into a by-the-numbers snapshot of this impressive incoming class.

• 39,000 applications resulted in 1,650 new students
• 9% have a family member who attended ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø
• 15% are the first in their family to attend college

Where they’re from

• 1,075 high schools
• 29% from the Middle Atlantic
• 6% from New England
• 12% from the Midwest
• 8% from the South
• 5% from the Southwest

• 10% from outside the U.S.
• 13% from Ohio

What they do

• 79% volunteered in their communities
• 62% played a sport
• 49% were involved in the arts
• 51% worked part-time jobs or cared for a family member at home
