Chase Cao, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the , recently wrote an article titled “Rapid Regeneration of Graphite Anodes via Self-Induced Microwave Plasma.”

Published in Advanced Functional Materials, explores an innovative self-induced microwave plasma technology that rapidly regenerates graphite anodes from spent lithium-ion batteries, which can remove the SEI layer and restore the graphite lattice structure within 30 seconds, offering a promising approach for recycling graphite anodes.
