More than 60 youth programs sponsored by ϳԹ take place annually, ranging from sports camps to academic enrichment programs to mentoring. The ϳԹ Youth Protection Work Group ensures these youth programs take proper steps to keep participants safe.
Made up of representatives from various departments, the group has drafted a Youth Protection Policy covering programs involving individuals under age 18 who are not ϳԹ students. There will be an information session to present the policy draft Friday, Nov. 2, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Adelbert Hall, Toepfer Room.
Leaders of ϳԹ youth programs and any faculty or staff member planning to start a youth program may attend and provide feedback.
The draft Youth Protection Policy covers issues like training of staff, background checks, reporting known or suspected child abuse and registration of youth programs.
