The Feb. 1 deadline is approaching to apply for one of the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning’s (CCEL) March or May Alternative Breaks.
CCEL will host three Alternative Breaks this spring semester to give undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to spend a week in service and learn about a new community issue during their school break.

Alternative Spring Break options (March 13–17) focus on mass incarceration (southeast Michigan) or refugee resettlement and immigration (Columbus). These programs cost $360.
The Alternative May Break (May 12–19) focuses on unpacking international voluntourism in Nicaragua. This program costs $1,460.
Break fees cover international flight (if applicable), transportation, lodging, entertainment and most meals.
Participant spots will be filled on a rolling basis with a final application and deposit deadline of Feb. 1.
