Quantitative summarization of genetic risk in the form of polygenic risk scores (PRS) have emerged as new tools recognize and potentially interrupt elevated risk earlier in life. This talk will review the scientific basis, clinical validity and potential applications of PRS for CAD prevention, including strategies for integrating genetic risk into existing prevention frameworks, implications for diverse populations and emerging evidence from prospective studies and clinical trials. Practical considerations, current limitations and the path toward responsible implementation in routine care will also be discussed.
