Cassandra Burke Robertson regularly teaches Civil Procedure, Professional Responsibility, Judicial Remedies, Law and Regulation of Autonomous Vehicles, Transnational Litigation, Secured Transactions and Wills. She directs the law school's Center for Professional Ethics, whose mission is to explore moral choices across professional lines in a variety of disciplines. Her scholarship focuses on citizenship law, civil procedure and legal ethics, with particular attention on how legal frameworks operate across national boundaries. She has co-authored a casebook in professional responsibility and published articles in major journals including the Columbia Law Review, NYU Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and Texas Law Review.
Robertson has received multiple teaching awards, including Teacher of the Year (voted by the graduating class) and 1L Professor of the Year (voted by the 1L class), as well as the Law Alumni Association Distinguished Teacher Award and the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø School of Law Distinguished Research Award. Her scholarship has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court as well as other state and federal courts.
Within the legal profession, Robertson serves on the Ohio Commission on the Rules of Practice and Procedure in Ohio Courts by appointment of the Ohio Supreme Court. She previously served as a commissioner from Ohio to the Uniform Law Commission, where she chaired the Study Committee on Third-Party Financing of Litigation and served on several other committees. She has also served on the board of Maximum Accessible Housing of Ohio, a nonprofit organization that works to provide and promote accessible housing solutions for people with physical mobility disabilities.
Prior to joining the faculty in 2007, Robertson clerked for the Texas Supreme Court and served as assistant solicitor general in the Office of the Texas Attorney General. Robertson received a law degree with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she also obtained joint master's degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and Public Affairs.
